Stories for Astor
Hommage to Astor Piazzolla with contemporary music, dance and light art.
The Duo Segotal premiered in February 2022 four new compositions by Daniel Tamayo (Salon 101), Dariya Maminova (Langsam und Schön), Elnaz Seyedi (Nebenweg) and Moritz Preisler (Konturen), based on historical tango pieces (Bordel 1900, Café 1930, Nightclub 1960 and Concert d´aujourd´hui) by Piazzolla himself. While the „Historie du Tango“ traditionally is played on a violin and a guitar, electronically music was added to the contemporary parts. The defragmented and transformed presentation was complemented by the two contemporary dancers Lenah Flaig and Mohamed Ben Salah, as well as the Light Art Artists Jacqueline Hen and Manuel Ahnemüller.
The space was transformed by and with the audience during the performance. In the beginning the musicians were placed in a semi-transparent chamber, that invited the viewer to explore the space, become part of the setting and experience concepts like voyeurism and exposition. Over the time, the space was transformed by the dancers and the light settings, as the four historical and contemporary pieces were played in alternation.
