Digital mask

Imprint is about the process of digital face-recognition and their repeatedly reproduction.

Photogrammetry is used to detect the surface of a physical object and to construct a digital replica. In this case the software produced a simulation of a life mask (forma) and transformed it into a digital prosthesis, which was again materialized in the next step.

As shown above, the reproduction of the mask was designed with a maximum of abstraction, but still keeping main features of its origin. The new physical copy was scanned again and at this point the software shows its performance capability. The depth of the grid structure wasn’t captured entirely, so the software interpolated the missing surface and an organic reconstruction occurs. As a distinct object the third mask displays individual features but still recommits to the imprint of a human face.
